Program FAQ

What is this program?

The State of Pennsylvania has entered a contract with WEX, a leading fleet fuel card provider, to establish a fleet fueling program that all local and municipal entities can participate in. This program can help reduce overall fueling expenses, and gives you tools to help improve operational efficiency.

Who can participate?

If you oversee vehicles for a municipality in the State of Pennsylvania or are a PA COSTARS member, your organization is eligible to apply. No RFP is required — you can easily join and benefit from terms already negotiated by Pennsylvania. Simply fill out and submit a  Participating Addendum or call 866-527-8770.

Where is this card accepted?

The State of Pennsylvania Fuel Card is accepted at 95% of fuel stations in Pennsylvania and across the U.S.

What are driver ID numbers?

Driver ID numbers are short PINs that card users enter for each transaction. They help track who spends what, where and when in your reporting, and help protect you from unauthorized use.

What reports are available?

Online reports help you track activity, flag misuse and keep expenses in check. Purchase activity reports let you view all fleet card transactions. Financial and site summaries help you manage vehicle-related expenses and plan your budget. Tax exemptions reports include all exemptions that apply to your account under our program.

Who is the approved provider?

WEX is a worldwide leader in fleet management and fueling solutions, serving over 300,000 businesses, including more than 1.2 million tax exempt fleet cards through federal agencies, states, cooperatives and local governments. Their corporate headquarters — including their 24/7 customer service team — are located in Portland, Maine.
