Take Pride in Vehicle Advertising: How to Care for Your Vehicle Wrap

November 6, 2018

Raise Awareness with a Vehicle Wrap

A vehicle wrap is a smart business investment. According to a marketing study cited by Style My Ride, a vehicle wrap on average generates about 32,804 to 75,897 views a day, 30% of which are potential customers. Whether your small business consist of one commercial vehicle or a local fleet, keeping your vinyl wrap pristine is a great way to protect your vehicle’s resale value while signaling to current customers the pride you take in your business and reaching out to new potential customers through mobile advertising.

Vehicle wrap is also a great way to raise business awareness for recruitment purposes. In 2018, the outlook is sunny for small businesses looking to recruit new workers. According to a report from the National Federation of Independent Business (NFIB), in July of 2018 small business owners added the most workers per firm since July of 2006. Small Business Administration chief Linda McMahon—as referenced by Forbes—said small businesses in the U.S. are investing and filling once-vacant jobs as a result of tax cuts.

Tips for Caring for a Vinyl Vehicle Wrap

To get the most out of your investment, follow these straightforward tips for cleaning a wrapped vehicle. According to Style My Ride, the most effective way to clean is hand washing with a non-aggressive detergent and warm water.

Steps for Cleaning

  1. Rinse the vehicle with clean water to smooth the surface of the vinyl wrap.
  2. Apply mild detergent mixed with water using a car cleaning cloth or a sponge. Start from top to bottom and do not over scrub.
  3. Next, rinse the vehicle with clear water, making sure the detergent soap is entirely removed. Minimize water spotting by using a silicone squeegee or chamois to remove water.
  4. Dry the surface of your vehicle with a clean microfiber cloth or let it air dry.

What to Avoid Using on Your Wrapped Vehicle

The Wrap Agency suggests avoiding automatic car washes that use brushes and “touchless car washes that spray at sharp angles with high pressure soap and water—these will cause wrap decal edges to lift.”

Also, avoid using any chemical such as “bleach, solvents, oil based cleaners, kitchen and bathroom cleaners, orange oil or engine degreasers.”

How to Spot Clean a Wrapped Vehicle

The Wrap Agency suggests using Simple Green or isopropyl rubbing alcohol to spot clean isolated stains. After spot cleaning, rinse with cool water. Also, avoid wiping the wrap when it’s hot as this can distort the vinyl and lead to wrinkling.

Following this simple advice will ensure that your vinyl vehicle wrap looks sharp and that your vehicle’s paint job is fully protected underneath the wrap. And few things telegraph business success as clearly as great-looking mobile advertising.
