Pokemon Go By Bus

August 16, 2016

It’s the definition of a smart business move. Look at what the people want, and find a way to give it to them. Right now, a lot of people want to capture all of the Pokemon, and bus companies all across the country have invited players to jump on board for Pokemon Go bus tours.

For the uninitiated, Pokemon Go is a game played on a mobile device that uses its GPS to blend game characters with the real-world landscape. The goal is to catch all the characters. Players whip out their phones as they walk around, and when a Pokemon monster appears on screen, they try to catch them with a Pokeball.

As soon as the game was released, it became a phenomenon, but players must cover a lot of ground to do well in the game. That’s where the bus tours come in.

In Detroit, the owner of one bus company was obsessed with game, and realized that his fleet could help kids find the city’s hot Pokemon Go spots safely. Plus it would be a fun way to bring players together.

The San Diego tour took advantage of the city’s influx of Comic Con attendees and set up their tours while visitors inclined toward such adventures were in town.

An Austin, Texas, company offers weekly guided tours that give passengers some history about the city as they spread out to “catch ‘em all.”

There’s no doubt that the craze will fade eventually. But it hasn’t happened yet, and being on top of such a popular trend gives these bus companies a great marketing opportunity to get press coverage, get their name out to more people and introduce their services to a whole new target market.
