Last week, our Health division hosted WEX SPARK Health 2019, the 12th annual healthcare payments technology industry event. The event, held in the historic Fontainebleau Miami Beach resort, drew a record-breaking crowd of Partners that help 343,000 employers and more than 28 million consumers better manage healthcare expenses. We took great care to pack the three-day event with learning opportunities across concurrent breakout sessions, main stage presentations, spotlight sessions, learning labs and partner panels. We also made plenty of time to network and celebrate.
Here are some of the can’t-miss highlights and most exciting announcements from this year’s conference:
- Enhancements to the WEX Health Cloud are coming: Partners were introduced to new and upcoming product enhancements and gained insight into the broader Health product strategy, which encompasses features and functionality across business intelligence, health savings accounts (HSAs), mobile, COBRA and billing solutions. Enhancements in the upcoming WEX Health Cloud June Product Release will improve the consumer experience, including CDH Mobile App Quick Receipt Upload and a new COBRA Member Portal Open Enrollment tool. Partners also got a glimpse of new updates to Partner Central, the online Partner Portal, including enhanced navigation and Solution Providers functionality.
- Mel Robbins inspired with the 5 Second Rule: As the author of “The 5 Second Rule,” Mel Robbins told the audience she loves the SPARK event name because it incites action and is closely in sync with her concept that you must physically move within 5 seconds of having an instinct to act on a goal, or your brain will kill it. Robbins explained how to use her 5-4-3-2-1 strategy to reprogram our brains and get out of autopilot and into drive mode. “Autopilot is the only thing you are in competition with … ever,” she told us.
- We have created a National HSA Awareness Day launching this year: At SPARK 2019, we launched our new awareness initiative: National HSA Awareness Day (HSA Day). The event, which will take place annually on October 15, will unite the public and the healthcare benefits industry to discuss the power of HSAs and their impact on some of the most prevalent healthcare issues facing Americans today, including managing health-related out-of-pocket expenses, preparing for unexpected healthcare costs and planning for retirement.
- Our new consumer-directed healthcare research report: Introductory findings from our Health division’s 2019 research report were unveiled during the opening keynote and shared in sessions throughout the event. The report dives into the connection between health and wealth in America, addresses the most common misconceptions about consumer-directed healthcare and outlines opportunities for you to build your financial literacy and confidence.
