While motorists across the country were enjoying some lower fuel prices during the past few weeks, it was very short-lived. Unfortunately, pump prices are on the rise yet again mostly due to a combination of drastic wholesale price increases and new fuel price cycles occurring in many of the capitals.

Brisbane

Current ULP average: 173.4cpl

Price range over the last week: 148.5cpl – 210.9cpl

Unleaded prices reach the peak of the new fuel price cycle this week in Brisbane, significantly raising the average cost to fill up.

Sydney

Current ULP average: 166.9cpl

Price range over the last week: 145.9cpl – 229.9cpl

Retailers across Sydney have been slow to increase pump prices to align with the new fuel price cycle this week.

Melbourne

Current ULP average: 180.2cpl

Price range over the last week: 140.9cpl – 209.3pl

Melbourne has hit the peak in their current petrol price cycle, with the majority of fuel retailers setting pump prices for unleaded petrol at 189.9cpl this week.

Adelaide

Current ULP average: 184.1cpl

Price range over the last week: 131.9cpl – 195.6cpl

Adelaide is likely to be around 2 weeks away from hitting its next fuel price cycle, as the average cost of petrol is currently trending downwards.

Perth

Current ULP average: 170.4cpl

Price range over the last week: 143.7cpl – 199.9cpl

The next petrol price peak is predicted to hit next Wednesday as Perth reaches the mid-point of its current cycle.

Darwin

Current ULP average: 183.7cpl

Price range over the last week: 131.9cpl – 187.9cpl

Darwin experienced only a very small movement in fuel prices this week.

Hobart

Current ULP average: 176.1cpl

Price range over the last week: 159.9cpl – 219.9cpl

The fuel excise reduction is finally impacting fuel prices in Hobart, as retailers drop pump prices significantly this week.

Retail diesel prices

Darwin – 195.6cpl

Hobart – 203.9cpl

Melbourne – 193.4cpl

Perth – 190.4cpl

Sydney – 194.2cpl

The jump in wholesale fuel prices has continued to have an impact on the cost of diesel, which remains on the rise.
