Unfortunately for motorists across the country petrol price cycles hit new highs as wholesale prices have continued to rise. Fuel price history shows that Perth often sets the trend for petrol price cycle peaks – 7 locations in the Perth area alone set a 196.9cpl pump price over the past week.

Brisbane

Current ULP average: 169.4cpl

Price range over the last week: 149.9cpl – 194.9cpl

The past week saw some Brisbane retailers heavily discount fuel prices compared to the average price for unleaded petrol, indicating that the current petrol price cycle is starting to dip.

Sydney

Current ULP average: 172.3cpl

Price range over the last week: 151.5cpl – 189.9cpl

Only a very slight drop in average fuel prices across Sydney this week – possibly due to rising wholesale prices, or retailers holding off on discounting until most motorists are back on the road.

Melbourne

Current ULP average: 164.5cpl

Price range over the last week: 146.9cpl – 194.5cpl

The peak fuel price of 193.9cpl is being seen at more and more retailers this week, the warning signs to Melbourne motorists that it is about to enter the early stages of a new petrol price cycle.

Adelaide

Current ULP average: 155.6cpl

Price range over the last week: 143.9cpl – 191.9cpl

Be quick to snap up a decent petrol price now if you’re in Adelaide – a couple of retailers are already setting their pump prices for unleaded petrol at 191.9cpl, indicating the start of a new fuel price cycle.

Perth

Current ULP average: 174.7cpl

Price range over the last week: 149.7cpl – 196.9cpl

Perth motorists were stung with fuel prices of almost $2.00 per litre last week, with many retailers setting pump prices at 196.9cpl.  The bottom of the petrol price cycle is due next Tuesday, so hold off on your fill up until then if you can!

Darwin

Current ULP average: 170.7cpl

Price range over the last week: 131.9cpl – 171.9cpl

Only a very slight movement in fuel prices during the past week for Darwin.

A small increase in petrol prices for Hobart again this week.
