As predicted, the average price for unleaded petrol dropped significantly during the past week across the country. When looking at the overall movement due to excise cuts vs normal fuel price cycles, there is approximately 10cpl to filter through. Regional areas however have not seen the drastic fuel discounting by retailers, but this is expected to hit over the next 7 days.

 

Brisbane

Current ULP average: 182.1cpl

Price range over the last week: 158.9cpl – 230.9cpl

The fuel excise reduction seems to have translated to reduced fuel prices, although with some retailers still posting high pump prices, Brisbane motorists are yet to see the full effect.

 

Sydney

Current ULP average: 181.9cpl

Price range over the last week: 154.9cpl – 229.9cpl

Like Brisbane, Sydney fuel retailers have decreased their petrol prices after the fuel excise reduction announcement.

 

Melbourne

Current ULP average: 178.8cpl

Price range over the last week: 157.9cpl – 220.9pl

Fuel prices have been reduced even further this week in Melbourne, with retailers using the fuel excise reduction to slash petrol costs even more.

 

Adelaide

Current ULP average: 170.7cpl

Price range over the last week: 153.5cpl – 219.7cpl

Adelaide motorists had a good week – not only did retailers pass down the excise reduction to reduced fuel costs, petrol costs were driven down further by the usual discount cycle.

 

Perth

Current ULP average: 169.7cpl

Price range over the last week: 156.7cpl – 220.9cpl

Keep an eye on fuel price cycles in Perth to get a preview of peak prices for future price cycles. Today’s high price is looking to climb into the 190’s.

 

Darwin

Current ULP average: 192.9cpl

Price range over the last week: 131.9cpl – 210.9cpl

Like the other capitals, Darwin saw a similar drop in fuel prices this week.

 

Hobart

Current ULP average: 207.9cpl

Price range over the last week: 182.9cpl – 229.9cpl

As per usual, Hobart remains the highest-priced fuel capital.

ACT – 207.1cpl

Adelaide – 203.7cpl

Brisbane – 209.8cpl

Darwin – 213.0cpl

Hobart – 217.3cpl

Melbourne – 205.5cpl

Perth – 201.7cpl

Sydney – 203.2cpl

 

Finally some good news for drivers filling up with diesel – significant price decreases across all capital cities, with Perth the lowest of all.

 

Wholesale trends

Wholesale petrol prices dropped massively this week, with average TGP prices decreasing by 28.9cpl (Excluding the excise reduction, this represents a move of approximately 4.6cpl)

Wholesale diesel prices also decreased significantly this week, with average TGP prices dropping by 26.7cpl. (Excluding the excise reduction, this represents a move of approximately 2.4cpl)
