The fuel excise relief doesn’t seem to be doing too much relieving – both Adelaide and Melbourne have seen more record high fuel prices over the past week.  The newly elected federal government have decided to reinstate the reaming half of the excise (22.1cpl) later on in the year in September, which will no doubt cause some controversy.

 

Brisbane

Current ULP average: 194.3cpl

Price range over the last week: 181.9cpl – 226.9cpl

Brisbane drivers, fill up now if you wish to take advantage of prices at the bottom of this current cycle, as unleaded fuel prices are expected to shoot up to 224.9cpl shortly.

 

Sydney

Current ULP average: 195.6cpl

Price range over the last week: 177.9cpl – 229.9cpl

Sydney are looking to follow Brisbane’s current cycle trend – petrol prices are forecasted to peak in the mid 220’s soon.

 

Melbourne

Current ULP average: 195.1cpl

Price range over the last week: 179.9cpl – 225.1cpl

This week marks the new price cycle for Melbourne – unleaded fuel prices have been posted at 224.9cpl by 10% of retailers across the metropolitan area.

 

Adelaide

Current ULP average: 202.9cpl

Price range over the last week: 174.9cpl – 229.8cpl

If you’re an Adelaide motorist, fill up now if you can – the majority of retailers in are expected to increase current pump prices to 224.9cpl by tomorrow (7 June).

 

Perth

Current ULP average: 200.8cpl

Price range over the last week: 182.3cpl – 227.9cpl

While the peak price of 219.9cpl in the current price cycle was lower than forecasted, the next high price is looking to sit in the 220’s.

 

Darwin (no price cycle)

Current ULP average: 198.1cpl

Price range over the last week: 131.9cpl – 199.9cpl

Very minor movement in Darwin this week.

 

Hobart (no price cycle)

Current ULP average: 201.2cpl

Price range over the last week: 173.8cpl – 211.1cpl

Only a slight increase in fuel prices for Hobart this week.

 

Retail diesel prices

Current Diesel averages:

ACT – 210.4cpl

Adelaide – 206.8cpl

Brisbane – 209.4cpl

Darwin – 209.0cpl

Hobart – 217.9cpl

Melbourne – 206.3cpl

Perth – 205.0cpl

Sydney – 206.1pl

 

While there was little change in diesel prices this week, skyrocketing wholesales prices will reflect in an increase in pump prices within the next few weeks.

 

Wholesale trends

Wholesale petrol prices rose this week, with average TGP prices increasing by 3.1cpl.

Wholesale diesel prices increased this week, with average TGP prices jumping by a significant 12.3cpl.
