WEX VP of Finance, Corporate Payments Irina Hossu Featured in The Glass Hammer

Belief and trust in yourself, along with a willingness to take chances, are central career tenets for Irina Hossu.  Her experience before joining WEX just over a year ago helped her see the value of saying “yes” to opportunities that challenge her boundaries. “You’ll learn more when you own your decisions and mistakes – correct them, learn from them and move on,” she says.

The Value of Teams

One of Hossu’s greatest professional achievements before joining WEX was the integration of teams following Revlon’s acquisition of the company where she worked. In addition to her finance role at that job, she also oversaw HR, which helped her understand the ambiguities that can arise when managing people. It also helped her learn the value of working with a smart, cohesive team of people who have different skills than hers.

At WEX, Hossu is currently focused on the travel segment and recent consolidation of key customers. She also participates in Women of WEX, an informal group that meets quarterly to network and share ideas and experiences. “The best ideas come from collaboration,” she says.
