Another slow week for the east coast price cycles despite some relief in wholesale prices. This adds weight to the theory that the overall price cycle dynamics could be changing, and we could expect to see prices fall more slowly in the future. Whilst we may see the overall prices stay the same, it could make it difficult for motorists to buy regularly at the lower end. The cycles in Adelaide and Perth, by comparison, allow price-conscious motorists the opportunity to buy at the low point every 1-2 weeks.
Brisbane
Current ULP average: 193.6cpl
Price range over the last week: 167.5cpl – 222.9cpl

Sydney
Current ULP average: 188.2cpl
Price range over the last week: 166.7cpl – 211.9cpl
Sydney’s discounting continued at a more rapid pace last week as we get closer to reaching the bottom of the price cycle. However, this still could be another 2 weeks away.
Melbourne
Current ULP average: 184.1cpl
Price range over the last week: 169.1cpl – 204.5cpl
Melbourne prices were slow to fall last week, the average unleaded 91 price only dropping by approx. 4.5cpl.
Adelaide
Current ULP average: 169.4cpl
Price range over the last week: 159.5cpl – 209.9cpl
Adelaide is hitting the bottom of the price cycle now, and is the lowest priced capital right now.
Perth
Current ULP average: 176.5cpl
Price range over the last week: 168.7cpl – 209.9cpl
The average price for Perth has dropped over the past week, most probably due to falls in wholesale prices. We may see the new peak price on Wednesday a bit lower than last – at around 205.9cpl.
Darwin
Current ULP average: 182.9cpl
Price range over the last week: 176.5cpl – 187.9cpl
A very small drop in average prices for Darwin.
Hobart
Current ULP average: 193.7cpl
Price range over the last week: 185.9cpl – 201.9cpl
Hobart was similar to Darwin again, with a very small drop in prices over the past week.

Darwin – 209.2cpl
Hobart – 205.3cpl
Melbourne – 194.3cpl
Perth – 187.3cpl
Sydney – 194.9cpl
Small falls in retail diesel prices across almost all capitals in the past week. Expect more to come here because of recent wholesale price drops.
