With the Easter break around the corner, we can expect retailers to put prices up especially in Brisbane. With 10 days to go – this may not be favourable to these retailers however the last price cycle was well over 6 weeks ago so it’s likely there is a change coming.

Brisbane

Current ULP average: 180.1c/l

Price range over the last week: 167.9c/l – 216.9c/l

No sign of the new price cycle in Brisbane yet. The question is now whether we will see one before the Easter break.

Sydney

Current ULP average: 198.1c/l

Price range over the last week: 162.9c/l – 213.9c/l

The Sydney price cycle has continued to grow with more than 50% of locations now putting prices up. The peak price here for unleaded 91 is 211.9c/l.

Melbourne

Current ULP average: = 178.8c/l

Price range over the last week: 161.9c/l – 205.0c/l

Melbourne has started to show signs of a new price cycle at 9c/l for unleaded 91. Only around 10% of retailers have put their prices up to this new peak price so far.

Adelaide

Current ULP average: 170.3c/l

Price range over the last week: 159.9c/l – 198.0c/l

Adelaide unleaded 91 prices are moving up to 9c/l in the latest price cycle there.

Perth

Current ULP average: 172.1c/l

Price range over the last week: 159.9c/l – 203.9c/l

Perth will become the lowest priced capital tomorrow as prices fall further before the next cycle on Wednesday. Expect to see a peak around 203.9c/l again.

Darwin (no price cycle)

Current ULP average: 179.5c/l

Price range over the last week: 173.5c/l– 181.9c/l

No change for Darwin in the past week.

Hobart (no price cycle)

Current ULP average: = 188.6c/l

Price range over the last week: 179.9c/l – 196.0c/l

Hobart prices dropped slightly in the past week.

Retail diesel prices

Current Diesel averages:

ACT – 206.5c/l

Adelaide – 189.1c/l

Brisbane – 197.5c/l 

Darwin – 210.2c/l

Hobart – 207.5c/l

Melbourne – 197.2c/l

Perth – 187.5c/l

Sydney – 198.7c/l

Retail diesel prices fell slightly across several capitals in the past week.

Wholesale trends

Wholesale petrol prices decreased this week with average TGP prices going down by 3.9c/l. 

Wholesale diesel prices decreased this week with average TGP prices going down by 4.0c/l.
