Although there has been some significant jumps and drops over the last few months causing regular price cycles to be disrupted in major capitals, it look like this is benefitting motorists who are willing to shop around. One of the most common features in the retail fuel marketing at the moment is volatility – this week however Adelaide and Perth seem to be right in the midst of their price cycles. So, now would be the time to fill up! Whilst motorists in Brisbane, Melbourne and Sydney you’ll need to wait another 2 weeks.

Brisbane

Current ULP average: 168.3cpl

Price range over the last week: 153.9cpl – 199.9cpl

Brisbane’s average prices fell by 10cpl over the last week – however they are about a week away from the bottom of the price cycle.

Sydney

Current ULP average: 166.2cpl

Price range over the last week: 147.6cpl – 205.9cpl

Sydney saw a significant drop in average prices dropping by at least 15cpl. This is likely the result of some independent retails continuing to keep their prices low during the last price spike. Retailers who did increase ULP prices quick reduced their process again to avoid losing out on volume.

Melbourne

Current ULP average: 168.2cpl

Price range over the last week: 144.9cpl – 202.0cpl

Melbourne saw a quick drop in process to 10cpl for the week. No sign of any movement as yet.

Adelaide

Current ULP average: 156.6cpl

Price range over the last week: 142.9cpl – 221.7cpl”

Now is the time if you’re in Adelaide to fill up, with the price cycle being at the bottom despite the sharp jump to 199.9cpl for UP last week.

Perth

Current ULP average: 158.6cpl

Price range over the last week: 148.7cpl – 199.9cpl

Perth prices continue to drop over the week – with a jump in prices expected this Wednesday. ULP prices are expected to be in the 190s again.

Darwin (no price cycle)

Current ULP average:182.6cpl

Price range over the last week: 177.5cpl – 185.7cpl

No significant change for Darwin this week.

Hobart (no price cycle)

Current ULP average: 175.7cpl

Price range over the last week: 163.9cpl – 198.0cpl

Little movement for average prices in Hobart this week.

Retail diesel prices

Current Diesel averages:

ACT – 211.6cpl

Adelaide –205.5cpl

Brisbane – 205.3cpl

Darwin – 208.9cpl

Hobart – 210.5cpl

Melbourne – 205.1cpl

Perth – 201.8cpl

Sydney – 208.0cpl

Slight increases in diesel prices this week – mainly due the huge jump in wholesale prices.

Wholesale trends

Wholesale petrol prices increased this week, with average TGP prices going dropping by 4.9cpl.

Wholesale diesel prices also increased this week, with average TGP prices dropping by 14.4cpl.
