We’ve seen some unusually slow discount phases in the east-coast capitals lately. This could just be a factor of a slow down during the school holidays, or it may also be a new characteristic of longer period price cycles. For example – if a price cycle is 8-10 weeks rather that 4 weeks, then during the discount phase, the week on week falls will be much smaller.

Brisbane

Current ULP average: 199.3cpl

Price range over the last week: 167.5cpl – 222.9cpl

A small fall in average prices for Brisbane over the course of the week. This slow discount cycle may be due to the long period of the price cycle here in Brisbane now.

Sydney

Current ULP average: 188.2cpl

Price range over the last week: 167.7cpl – 211.9cpl

Sydney prices only fell by around 3cpl last week. This is unusual at this stage in the discount cycle.
