For the first time in a few months we are seeing petrol attracting premium over diesel. This will be interesting to see what happens over the next few weeks as we start to see many full schedules of many airlines help keep the prices up for crude oils. In the meantime, for motorists in Brisbane, Melbourne and Sydney now is a great time to fill up!

Brisbane

Current ULP average: 180.4cpl

Price range over the last week: 161.9cpl – 219.9cpl

Approx. 12% of locations have now moved their prices up in the start of this new price cycle. The new peak unleaded 91 price is 207.9cpl. 

Sydney

Current ULP average: 180.1cpl

Price range over the last week: 155.9cpl – 209.9cpl

Similarly in Sydney around 12% of retail locations have moved up to the new peak of 205.9cpl for E10.

Melbourne

Current ULP average: 177.6cpl

Price range over the last week: 162.9cpl – 209.2cpl

Melbourne is tracking in a similar way to Brisbane and Sydney at 11% of locations to have moved prices up to 207.9cpl for unleaded 91.

Adelaide

Current ULP average: 190.3cpl

Price range over the last week: 152.5cpl – 202.2cpl

The Adelaide average unleaded 91 price has moved down from the peak of 197.9cpl last week. And should continue to fall for the next week or so.

Perth

Current ULP average: 168.7cpl

Price range over the last week: 154.9cpl – 205.9cpl

The average price in Perth is 3.5cpl higher than this time last week, most likely due to the effect of wholesale price rises.

Darwin

Current ULP average: 181.5cpl

Price range over the last week: 175.5cpl – 183.9cpl

No changes for Darwin again this week.

Hobart

Current ULP average: 183.1cpl

Price range over the last week: 172.9ccpl – 192.9cpl

Slightly small change for average prices in Hobart this week.

Retail diesel prices

Current Diesel averages:

ACT – 193.8cpl

Adelaide – 176.7cpl

Brisbane – 186.1cpl

Darwin – 203.9cpl

Hobart – 189.0cpl

Melbourne – 184.4cpl

Perth – 175.7cpl

Sydney – 182.9cpl

Very slight falls in retail diesel prices across all capitals in the past week. This is set to turn around shortly as a result of wholesale price rises flowing through.

Wholesale trends

Wholesale petrol prices decreased this week with average TGP prices going up by 5.1cpl.

Wholesale diesel prices decreased this week with average TGP prices going up by 2.0cpl.
