A lot of businesses like to say that every employee is in marketing, because in encounters with vendors, customers and the general public they represent the company. In trucking, that is especially true of truck drivers. While a lot goes on behind the scenes to ensure timely delivery of goods, the driver remains the face of the company in most circumstances.

A reliable, safe and personable driver is a huge asset to a company, and to the industry itself. For 30 years, the American Trucking Associations has looked for the best of the best to be part of America’s Road Team — and nominations are now being accepted for the 2017 team.  Those chosen spend two years as an America’s Road Team Captain, dedicating two to five days a month representing the trucking industry and educating the public about the proper way to handle a car around a semi.

“I have been very honored to be chosen as one of America’s Road Team Captains for 2015 and 2016,” says David Green, of Werner Enterprises. “ I would like to encourage every driver out there that’s passionate about their truck driving career; who wants to get out there and set the example, who wants to be one of America’s Road Team Captains, to get out there and apply.”

Nominees must be full-time truckers, either company or independent, with an exceptional safety record. The nominating company must be an ATA member. Deadline for nominations is August 22, 2016, with finalists announced in October, and the final team selected in January 2017.
