Beyond the Badge: Why WEX’s Sustainability Commitment is a Strategic Asset for Our Customer

This Earth Month, WEX is reaffirming its commitment to a sustainable future, earning an esteemed EcoVadis Committed badge for the second year in a row. This is more than just a certification; it is a sign of real value for WEX customers as a reliable partner in a world of growing ESG requirements.

EcoVadis medals and badges recognize companies that have completed the EcoVadis Sustainability Rating assessment and demonstrated, relative to other assessed companies, a strong management system addressing sustainability criteria. EcoVadis’s independent assessment evaluates companies against 21 rigorous sustainability criteria, providing a trusted benchmark for performance. 

The significance of this rating extends beyond our own operations. Many of our customers face sustainability requirements, whether through new laws, supply chain regulations, ESG reporting obligations, or carbon reduction targets. By partnering with WEX, a company with a verified EcoVadis rating, our customers can gain a reliable ally in helping to meet their compliance goals. Our rating provides them with third-party validation of our sustainability practices, helping them demonstrate due diligence in their choice of suppliers.

Yet, we’re under no illusion that a badge alone signifies mission accomplished. Sustainability is a continuous journey, not a destination. Our focus remains on raising the bar – not for accolades, but because our customers, employees, and communities expect and deserve real action. 

We recognise that sustainability is a moving target. Earning the EcoVadis Committed badge for a second year is a milestone, but it’s also a reminder of the work ahead. We’re investing in cleaner technologies and conservation projects, while also striving to further improve our EcoVadis rating. That includes support for the forest growing charity WeForest through the WEX Eco Miles program, which is a way that WEX delivers solutions that help our customers meet their ESG goals while driving meaningful change.
