Welcome to SPARK Health! Here’s What to Expect

May 6, 2019

If you’re in Miami with us for WEX’s SPARK Health 2019 conference today, we want to welcome you and thank you for investing in your personal and organization growth and success. We have no doubt that it will be a valuable experience filled with networking, learning, hands-on technical training, and opportunities to dive into some of the biggest challenges our industry is facing.

To make the most of your time at the conference, here are 10 handy tips to keep in mind and consider—we think they’ll help you succeed!

  1. Review the Conference Guide—and Keep Handy for Reference

You’ll find yourself referring back time and time to the information in this handy guide—like the session agenda, more information on our keynote speakers, venue map and so much more. Keep this in the pouch in your name badge for safe keeping.

  1. Use the WEX SPARK Health 2019 Mobile App

Besides the Click photo scavenger hunt and the active social wall feature, the SPARK Health mobile app is a great source of insider information. Be sure to check out these features, too:

  • Contacting Other Attendees
  • Current Session Information
  • Session Evaluations
  • Event Notifications
  • Maps

Find instructions to download the app in your conference guide.

  1. Familiarize Yourself with the Fontainebleau

While you’re here, don’t forget to take in the sights, sounds, smells and tastes of the Fontainebleau and the various elements of the property. This is a once-in-a-lifetime experience, and we’re glad you’re here! The staff will be happy to help you with any questions or concerns you may have, as well as any WEX Health team member.

  1. Wear Your Conference Lanyard during all Conference Activities

Consider your lanyard as your ticket into any and all WEX SPARK Health events, so be sure to have it on you at all times when participating in conference events. You can pick up your lanyard upon check-in at the registration desk.

  1. Take It All In

There are sessions for every role type, every content topic and everything you’re looking for! Be sure to attend a variety of the different events and session types as they each offer something different:

  • Concurrent Sessions
  • Learning Labs
  • SPARK Starters 10 Handy Tips for a Stellar
  • Panel Discussions
  • Spotlight Sessions
  • Sponsor Neighborhoods
  • Keynotes
  • Partner Awards Dinner and Program
  • Partner Celebration

  1. Have Some Ice Breaker Topics in Your Back Pocket

We know that meeting new people can be difficult and uncomfortable. But, it doesn’t have to be if you prepare and are confident. Have some go-to questions ready when you meet someone new at the conference, like:

  • What’s your role in your organization?
  • What’s your biggest challenge at work?
  • What are you looking forward to within your work life?
  • What experience do you have with _____?

  1. Dress in Layers

Even though the weather is bound to be beautiful (it is Miami, after all), we recommend attendees dress in layers to remain comfortable throughout the day, as the conference space temperatures may vary and the forecast calls for some rain.

  1. Set a Goal—and Tackle It

Take a moment to think about something specifically you’d like to accomplish during your time at SPARK—meeting a certain number of new people, attending a certain number of sessions, waking up early for yoga on the beach… whatever it is! You’ve made the investment in your growth by being here, make the most of it by being intentional with a goal.

  1. Think About How You Want to Stay Connected

Just as important as meeting new people is staying in-touch after you meet. Have a game plan ready for how you are going to reconnect—add them on LinkedIn, give them your business card or a combination of a few different strategies.

  1. Plan to De-Brief Colleagues Back Home

Because there is so much content presented at SPARK, it’s crucial to share the ideas, conversations and learnings with your team at home. Here’s a few different ways you can do this:

  • an in-person meeting with your team to talk about the event
  • a trip report to document your learnings
  • an email with the top 5 takeaways from SPARK
  • a company blog post with top takeaways

We also hope you’ll socialize your experience using the hashtag #WEXSPARK2019. And watch this space for daily-recap dispatches from SPARK!
