EV trip planning for your mixed-energy fleet

June 30, 2025

Planning a long trip in an electric vehicle can be a challenge. Factors such as vehicle make and model, weather conditions, driving habits, and cargo weight can amplify range anxiety for your drivers. This can cause unexpected complications for them while on the road. But with the new EV route-planning feature in DriverDash, you’ll be all set. Take advantage of WEX’s network of 146,000 charge points to build a convenient, worry-free route.

Learn how WEX’s EV products and services help you manage a mixed-energy fleet:

Expanded solution capabilities

The new WEX EV En Route feature in DriverDash empowers your drivers to plan their routes and where they can charge with greater accuracy than ever before. Within the DriverDash app, drivers enter their vehicle type, travel end-points, and any stops to receive the most convenient route, complete with suggested stops for fast charging. The vehicle type can be selected from a list of approximately 1,730 EVs. When your driver comes back a second time, the app defaults to the previously selected vehicle, making for a more user-friendly experience.

Additional information such as starting battery level, climate control settings, type of charger, number of passengers, and exterior temperature – all of which can impact range and suggested charging stops – helps further refine your route to prevent your drivers from experiencing challenges while en route.

Additional driver benefits include warnings about potential issues like low temperatures and upcoming tolls. The route planning tool helps ensure a smooth trip for your drivers, and gives you all the peace of mind needed when driving is part of the job.
