WEX Europe Opens London Bridge HQ

March 2, 2018

The new year has found WEXers settling in to our new WEX Europe headquarters located in the heart of London’s historic business district. The 7,800-square-foot office fully embraces an open seating concept for the 55+ associates who call the facility home. The new London HQ was designed to be a flexible environment that encourages collaboration and accommodates diverse work styles – from WEXers who are in the office every day to those who often work remotely.

“The new London office is an exciting opportunity for us to provide employees a more energetic, vibrant environment where they can easily work together,” said Safet Cobaj, our VP of facilities. “The London Bridge location gives people ready access to great amenities outside the office too, including transportation that makes commutes easier.”

It’s All In the Design

Located on the fourth floor of the iconic One London Bridge building, the elevator opens in the middle of the office space, providing a “wow” factor for guests on their first visit. This central hub includes a boardroom and three meeting rooms – all named after London landmarks based on the results of an employee survey. The rest of the floor plan is dedicated to open concept work areas, huddle spaces, and hot desks for WEXers who don’t have a dedicated workspace.

Collaboration spaces in London's HQ

The new office includes collaboration areas and space for visitors and employees, who don’t have a regular desk, to set up shop temporarily.

“The sales team holds our Monday meetings in an area with high desks that’s perfect for short, sharp standing meetings,” says WEX Europe Director of Sales Clare Murphy. “The open design encourages people from other areas to drop in to hear about what we’re up to and any obstacles we may be facing. It’s been a great way for us to get colleagues informed about our work and foster collaboration.”

Technology provides seamless support for WEXers, whether sitting at a dedicated workspace, working at a hot desk, or presenting in one of the meeting rooms. Employees can log into a phone in any area of the office and easily connect laptops to meeting room screens. Perks of the new office also include views of the Thames, St. Paul’s Cathedral, the Tower of London, HMS Belfast, London Bridge, and The Shard, Western Europe’s tallest building. Murphy notes that one side of the office that gets amazing sunsets has been nicknamed “sunset corner.”

“Just to be in central London is hypnotic with all these absolutely monumental landmarks visible from the office windows is amazing,” says Tim Chambers, head of WEX Europe partnerships and supplier strategy. “This flagship office is a real announcement of the fact that WEX means business in Europe.”
