The NAFA Institute & Expo is the fleet management event of the year, with 250 exhibitors and more than 1,000 professionals from the U.S. and beyond in attendance. For WEX Fleet, NAFA 2017 in Tampa was the perfect platform to engage with current and prospective partners, share news, and have a little fun along the way. And with so much packed into the 2-day event, we thought strategically and creatively about how to connect with everyone.
Most people attending NAFA can be considered a fleet expert of some kind – but very few actually ever get behind the wheel of a big rig. So we devised The WEX Fleet Challenge – a driving video game that simulates the conditions faced by fleet drivers.
To make the Challenge more interesting, we turned it into a competition. Visitors to our booth could go head-to-head against a colleague, or take on Bernie Kavanagh, our SVP & GM of large fleet. In addition to the personal satisfaction of a win, we also offered up Apple Watches to high scoring drivers throughout NAFA.

While the Challenge was lots of fun, there was also lots of serious conversation at NAFA. Our booth provided interactive experiences and demos where visitors could learn about WEX Fleet solutions that leverage technology to provide tools and data-driven insights that allow fleet customers to operate more efficiently, effectively and securely.
NAFA was also the perfect venue for us to announce the launch of our ClearView Advanced platform. Building on the overwhelming success of our ClearView Essentials fleet analytics and benchmarking platform, this innovative next-generation product expands capabilities to include sophisticated fuel price optimization algorithms. It even offers driver messaging to help change behaviors and save on wasteful fuel spending.
With so much to celebrate and share during NAFA, our Fleet marketing team took to social media to spread the word on WEX. A carefully orchestrated campaign leveraged Facebook, LinkedIn and Twitter to help build anticipation before the show. During the show, we created a real-time presence on Twitter with the help of photos, videos and posts tagged to connect with our partners in attendance, as well as our popular #BernieFaceOff video challenge.
We had a blast at NAFA 2017, and have come back energized and ready to put our new insights to work for our Fleet customers!
