More than 450 WEXers from our offices across the globe recently came together to celebrate achievements, plan for the future, and make connections at our annual sales meeting. Sales professionals from our fleet, OTR, and corporate payments lines of business were joined by colleagues from product, marketing, and other areas of the company during the four-day event in Fort Lauderdale.
“This was the first time we brought together three of our lines of business to jointly hold an annual sales meeting, and we were excited to host WEXers from North America, Australia, Europe, and Asia,” said Kathryn Connolly, our director of sales training. “The format allowed people from diverse areas of the organization to connect during shared meals, events, and activities in ways that foster relationship building and collaboration.”
A highlight of the meeting was the announcement of the 2017 Pinnacle and Apex Awards recipients. Eighty-two WEXers representing three lines of business received APEX Awards in recognition of superior sales achievement. The Pinnacle Award recognizes a WEX sales professional who best embodies our corporate values of integrity, innovation, execution, relationships, and community. For the first time, the Pinnacle Award had multiple recipients – Noel Glasgow from OTR, Mike Philbrick from Fleet, N.A., and Mary Cotugno from WEX Europe corporate payments.
“The sales meeting is a great opportunity to recognize the team for the incredible year that they’ve had, to energize them for the year that they have ahead, and also to socialize with individuals who do what they do in the field on a day-in, day-out basis on behalf of WEX,” said Jay Collins, SVP and general manager of Small Fleet.
For Phil Baker, director of product management for Fleet N.A., the annual sales meeting is the perfect place to generate buzz and excitement for new products that are coming to market. This year, his team held three customized tracks of circuit training sessions, with each track comprised of four 30-minute sessions. “It’s invaluable for us to be at the annual meeting delivering content and spending time outside of the sessions getting to know the sales people,” he observed.
