The UK travel industry is facing some major challenges which threaten growth; travel companies must stay on top of the latest trends in order to achieve success.
We recently conducted an exclusive survey of UK travelers to learn about their travel plans and what will impact these over the coming months. Despite the challenges that exist in the marketplace the desire of Brits to travel doesn’t appear to have been dampened. We found that over half are planning at least 2 trips (65%) with half of this group planning 3 or more trips in the next 12 months.
The amount that Brits plan to spend on travel over the next 12 months also shows that travel is a priority with an average spend of £2,924 planned per person.
Almost half will travel long-haul in the next 12 months (46%), showing that Brits are willing to travel long distance in order to relax and see more of the world. 71% will stay closer to home with a short-haul trip abroad planned showing Europe is not off the list for most.
View our infographic, How Often? How Much? How Far?, for more direct insight into the travel plans of Brits over the coming 12 months. The infographic also looks in detail at which groups of travellers will spend the most, as well as who is most likely to travel long-haul and which groups prefer short-haul trips.
The major theme that emerged from our survey was confidence – this is the key to success in the travel industry.
The insight showed that consumers need to feel confident in what they can spend, that what they are looking for in a trip is available and that plans that they make are adequately protected.
The success of a travel company in today’s marketplace is impacted by their ability to build confidence amongst customers that they can provide the right options, right prices and right protection to minimise consumer concerns.
Based on this research, our whitepaper explores the role that confidence plays in today’s travel market and explains how travel companies can best position themselves to successfully win consumer confidence.

The results will be published in early-Fall so make sure to keep a close eye on the blog for this update!
