Introducing WEX Leadership Lessons

At WEX, our leadership team is constantly on the lookout for opportunities to improve the employee experience. WEX’s leaders actively listen for, and respond to, employees’ personal views about what matters most to them at work.

WEX was founded on and continues to live by its core tenets—integrity, innovation, execution, relationships, and community. These tenets are core to our culture and are critical elements of our employment relationship as we continue to be a leader in the global payments space.

Noting this, one of our employees brought to our attention a desire to learn from our leadership. Specifically, they wanted to know what steps leaders take to thrive in their personal and professional lives, and how employees could model those.

WEX Leadership Lessons

To address this, we recently introduced WEX Leadership Lessons, a monthly series of talks by WEX executives designed to foster communication between employees and leaders, as well as to help our employees grow.

In coming weeks, the WEX Blog will be highlighting key takeaways from the talks, sharing important considerations for current and future employees and leaders at our company. Among the topics already covered:

• What is Gravitas? (Featuring WEX SVP of Human Resources, Jenifer Rinehart): Gravitas is the combination of presence, confidence, and knowledge. Ms. Rinehart will share with our readers and employees how to use it in order to own the room and effectively get your points across. See the video featuring Rinehart’s lessons for employees here.
• Maneuvering Change—Lessons on Openness, Vision, and Remaining Steadfast (Featuring Melissa Smith, President and Chief Executive Officer of WEX): Change is constant, and in order to manage this change in one’s personal or professional life, one must remain open to input yet steadfast in his or her vision. Ms. Smith shares with employees what her experiences as an endurance athlete have taught her about effectively managing change in her personal life as well as at a multinational organization.
