We’re wrapping up the first year of Expedition, our global sabbatical program designed to provide an opportunity for personal development for WEXers who’ve been with us for six or more years. Twelve associates, chosen at random from 44 total applicants, were given 20 working days of paid leave. Each participant was encouraged to use the time away to pursue his or her passion, and we’ll be telling some of their stories in future blog posts.
“We believe people are our most important asset, and we created the sabbatical program as a way to support personal development, as well as to engage and retain top talent,” said Kate Levesque, WEX Global Benefits Manager. “From every perspective, the first year of the program was a resounding success, with participants returning with renewed energy, creativity, and enthusiasm for their work.”
Levesque notes that Expedition is one of a number of innovative employee benefits that we offer in an effort to be a premier employer of choice. Our paid parental leave, which provides up to six weeks of paid time off for new mothers and fathers, was introduced in 2016 globally. And every WEXer can take paid volunteer time off every year, making it even easier to give back to the communities where people live and work.
Learn more about our benefits that focus on employee development and health and are designed to make life better at work and at home. And, check out some of our Sabbatical Stories, an inside look at the Expedition exploits of WEXers from the past year.
