8 WEX Telematics Reports to Help Improve Delivery Efficiency

The advent of telematics opened up new avenues for delivery fleets to create efficiencies. Countless data points add up to valuable insights on fuel economy, driver behavior, and vehicle maintenance. But how can small delivery fleets take advantage of WEX Telematics data to improve efficiency? This blog walks through eight WEX Telematics reports and gives tips on how to use each one to create efficiencies. 

1. Service Report

By entering service records into the system, delivery fleets can ensure that all vehicles are being routinely serviced. Service reports can also be used to evaluate maintenance costs and negotiate better service contracts.  

2. Landmarks Report

Pull a landmarks report to analyze vehicle visits to whatever landmarks you choose – home address, headquarters, customer sites, etc. Look for opportunities to reduce repeat visits or to improve routing.  

3. Geofence Violations Report

A geofence is a geographic area that the user defines. Once the geofence is created, a report shows which vehicles violated the fence and when the violations occurred. Geofence reports help monitor unauthorized driver behavior including the duration of time spent in a restricted area. 

4. Fuel Usage and MPG Report 

This report can help create efficiencies in fuel cost and vehicle maintenance. Compare your delivery vehicles by fuel consumption and miles per gallon (MPG). A fall-off in vehicle performance can indicate needed maintenance or an opportunity for driver training. Reconcile fuel expenditures with gallons consumed to monitor for abuse. 

5. Activity/Alerts Report 

WEX telematics alerts bring important information to the forefront. Set alerts for excessive speed, driving during off hours, geofence violations, or extended idling. Fleets can even set alerts for preventative maintenance to be triggered by odometer readings. The alerts report allows for viewing all the alerts together to identify areas that can be improved. 

6. Location Report

When a need arises, pull a location report to quickly view the location of all vehicles and determine the best way to respond. 

7. Stop Detail and Idle Time Report

Delivery fleets know that idling wastes fuel and wears on the engine. Identify vehicles with excessive idle times using the stop detail and idle time report. View hard stops, idle stops, stop duration, and location. The information can be used to identify inefficiencies and educate drivers on best practices to avoid excessive idling. 

8. Begin/End of Day Report

Pull this report to analyze when your delivery vehicles started in the morning and turned off in the evening. This report can be used to validate manual time cards or to automate time cards if drivers are paid from key on to key off.
