2017 President’s Club Winners Announced

For more than 20 years, our President’s Club has been the highest form of recognition for WEXers who bring our values to life. Beyond the prestige of being chosen as a President’s Club member, the winners and a guest are invited on a special trip to an exciting vacation destination. This year we had a record 538 nominations for 330 deserving WEXers from across the globe.

The 46 President’s Club winners and trip location were recently unveiled at a Wizard of Oz Emerald City themed event – a nod to the trip destination of Killarney, Ireland. More than 800 WEXers attended the announcement in Portland’s majestic Merrill Auditorium, with virtual participation from our offices in Nashville, Ogden, Fargo, and São Paulo.

“The President’s Club is a very selective honor awarded to only our top performers across the company as nominated by their peers,” said WEX CEO Melissa Smith. “To put this honor in perspective, we currently have over 3,300 employees worldwide, and it was a very difficult process to narrow down to our 46 winners who come from offices throughout the US, as well as the UK, Australia, New Zealand, and Brazil.”

WEXers’ Winning Qualities

Excerpts from some of the 2017 nominations give a glimpse into the characteristics that exemplify a President’s Club winner:

Colleagues refer to this winner as “WEX’s special sauce.” Highly respected and an expert in the larger payments sphere, her reputation as a dedicated visionary has been recognized both internally and externally.

In less than two months, this data science super hero built a whole new fraud detection system to identify compromised cards. Because of this his efforts, fraudulent activity dramatically dropped.

Globally focused, this passionate and tenacious individual took an innovative approach that ensured the success of a challenging data migration project.

Usually nominations are written by peers or managers – this winner was nominated by his customers. His technical skillset and curiosity pushed him to design a new report that better manages our client card inventory.

Next Stop Ireland

The excitement now shifts to the President’s Club trip to Ireland later this spring. The excursion encourages winners and their guests to socialize, have fun, and celebrate their successes along with members of our executive leadership team who serve as hosts. The group will enjoy all the history, culture, and outdoor activities the Killarney area has to offer while staying at both The Europe Hotel & Resort and historic Dromoland Castle. Look for a future blog post providing highlights of the trip.
