WEX® is continuing its strategic expansion across Europe with new partnerships designed to deliver smarter, more efficient mobility solutions for fleets. The latest additions – Carrefour fueling stations in France and Sakko Tankstations in the Netherlands – extend WEX’s fuel network to approximately 385 locations, focused on delivering quality, reliability, and regional accessibility for drivers.
“Our approach to WEX’s European fuel network is about building smarter, not just bigger,” says Kim Van Tendeloo, WEX Partnership & Network Development Manager, Europe. “Carrefour and Sakko are not only recognized brands, but a network that aligns with our mission: helping fleet managers operate more efficiently, wherever the road takes them.”
In France, WEX is now connected to approximately 350 Carrefour service stations, strengthening its footprint in a key European market.
“Known for its retail leadership and trusted name, Carrefour brings strategic coverage, consistent service and competitive prices to the WEX fuel network and we look forward to welcoming WEX customers to our stations,” says Valérie Le Gargean, Head of Business Development and Marketing for Carrefour’s Fuel BU. “We value partners who prioritize service, innovation, reliability, and the energy transition just like we do.”
That same fuel network expansion strategy guided WEX’s recent partnership with Sakko Tankstations in the Netherlands. This strategic alliance provides WEX customers with access to all Sakko fuel stations across the country, bringing WEX’s total network in the Netherlands to more than 2,300 service stations. Headquartered in Bergen op Zoom, Sakko operates under Sakko Holding BV and is a prominent independent oil trader. Its operations span the supply of fuels, lubricants, and AdBlue to a variety of sectors, including transport, agriculture, and construction.
“Our collaboration with WEX will allow business customers to refuel easily and efficiently with the WEX card at our Sakko locations, providing more convenience in day-to-day operations,” said Marja de Pater e/v de Vries, Head of Commercial Internal Services at Sakko.
A global financial technology business for more than 40 years, WEX specializes in optimizing payment solutions, improving productivity, and generating savings for businesses across the world. In Europe, its portfolio includes fuel cards, electric vehicle (EV) charging payments, automated expense tracking, and robust fleet management tools customizable for fleets of any size.
“Each partnership is a building block,” Van Tendeloo said. “We’re constructing an experience tailored to the evolving needs of our customers. Carrefour and Sakko are natural fits for this next chapter.”
