These days it’s important to remind ourselves of the hardships that others may be facing. It’s also important to recognize ways in which we can all help. We’ve collected some stories from our brand partners that reaffirm the ways we can all look out for each other.
Masks to the Frontlines
To aid those working on the frontlines, 7-Eleven has donated one million masks to healthcare workers.
“7‑Eleven is a brand that cares deeply about the people and communities in which we operate, particularly the first responders and the medical community who put their lives on the line for us every day,” said 7‑Eleven President and Chief Executive Officer Joe DePinto. “When we heard shortages of masks were becoming a serious issue in hospitals, we felt it was our responsibility to respond and help.”
Chevron Helps Southern Louisiana
In an effort to assist communities across Southeast Louisiana, the company has committed a total of $350,000 to Bayou Community Foundation, Northshore Community Foundation, Northshore Food Bank and Second Harvest Food Bank to supply resources to local families and individuals in need.
“COVID-19 has created some very difficult challenges for many across our state, especially our most vulnerable populations,” said Leah Brown, Public Affairs Manager for Chevron’s Gulf of Mexico Business Unit. “We are hopeful that these contributions will help members of our community overcome some of the obstacles they may be facing to take care of everyday needs.”
Unprecedented Times Call for Unprecedented Help
Marathon had a stock of over 500,000 units of PPE, including N95 respirator masks and gloves. They’ve either been delivered or are in transit to 45 hospitals and healthcare organizations in 20 states. In addition, we have shipped necessary supplies of PPE required to protect the health and safety of essential workers at our facilities, which are mandated by the Department of Homeland Security to operate as normally as possible to maintain the supply of fuels and products to keep the country running, including the emergency services.
The Country Needed Hand Sanitizer, So We Started Making it
“In our ongoing commitment to help in the fight against COVID-19, we began bulk production of hand sanitizer at our Hartley, Iowa ethanol plant today. We are ready and willing to do what we can in communities surrounding our plants to help ease the nation’s critical shortage of hand sanitizer,” said Joe Gorder, Valero Chairman & CEO. “We’ll distribute the hand sanitizer to our ethanol plants and refineries and to health care organizations and first responders to make sure they have what they need to win this fight.”
In addition to making hand sanitizer, families picking up boxes of food at the San Antonio food bank were given a surprise $20 Valero fuel card. Altogether $470,000 was raised for food and fuel at the San Antonio Food Bank.
